Following Nick Savidov’s presentation, Current Prairie Fisherman Corp is providing an opportunity for SACPA members to visit a developing aquaponics facility nearby. Tilapia fish are already being produced there which are shipped to the Vancouver market. A large greenhouse is under construction which will work in synergy with the fish growing operation to develop a full-fledged aquaponics system.

Driving instructions

It is about a 45 minute drive to the aquaponics facility. SACPA members are expected to drive there on their own, car-pooling as necessary to minimize CO2 emissions. We will leave the Keg by 1:30 PM in order to arrive at the tour site by 2:30PM. Go north on Mayor Magrath Drive and then west on Highway 3 to the Highway 23 turnoff toward Vulcan. Go north on Highway 23 to the Granum – Nobleford traffic circle. Go west toward Granum for 15km on Highway 519 and then turn left on Range Road 252. You should see the pump jack and grain bins. Range Road 252 lies between them. Hard to see the Range Road sign.
Proceed about 3.5 km south - crossing Township Road 104 into the tour site. You should see a large greenhouse and other buildings where you park for the tour as shown in the photos on the next page.
